No, all the products under TFT-PNEUMATIC Safety Tools are Classified as COLD WORK, thus not requiring a Hot work Permit, Habitats, Fire watches, slow down, shut-ins or nitrogen purging.
Yes, TFT-PNEUMATIC Safety Tools has a full range of grinding and cutting tools which are Classified as COLD WORK. Our tools are pneumatic, they are compact and portable. They can be used in confined spaces as well as in open areas. Robots and cutting guides are available and specific designs to suit specific applications can be developed.
Yes, all our tools are air powered.
No. These tools do not generate enough heat or energy to generate an ignition. There is no ignition/explosion risk associated with their use even if hydrocarbons are in the area/atmosphere. All our tests were made using the worst-case scenario including stoichiometric mixtures.
Special training is not required for the grinders however it is recommended as an option for the cutting system. On the water controller system, the key elements include the controller box calibration as well as cutting techniques. When supplying our products detailed instructions are included. Most people with some mechanical background or experience will be able to use them right out of the box and be proficient in just a few minutes of operation.
Eye protection (goggles, face shield), ear protection, gloves, coverall, protective footwear (steel toe boots) and other safety equipment should be used when operating these tools. Referring to the Usual Equipment according to your HSE Department may be the best way forward.
We can expect the lifetime of rotating files to be up to 100 times more than a traditional rotating file. For instance, with our Roughboy file A-0010 we have information showing the lifetime is as much as 10,000 sq. ft. and 1,000 man-hours with a single file while doing surface prep, removing paint and corrosion. With other files such as A-0008 we have information showing in excess of 200 hours of use. While this is no warranty, it is a confirmation of the long lifespan of our files due do the patented design, low temperatures and overall engineering and research behind our proven technology.
For cutting discs we can expect up to 50 linear ft of cutting thickness of 3/8” steel plate, this while using our assisted travel cutting guides. This 50% lifetime enhancement over handheld operation is rather significant and greatly advised to our customers. There are currently 3 options: A-0420 Compact cutting Guide, A-0410 Pendulum Arm, and A-0320 Cutting Guide Jr Solution.
By making sure the cutting and weld seam removal discs are running along the track we can eliminate all types of reactions/kickbacks and maintain blade alignment and consistency. The Operator is only required to move the tool along the track which reduces fatigue and operational concerns while increasing lifetime and speed.

The short answer is It depends.
It depends on what is being done and the complexity of the operation. Do you need to get a Hot Work Permit or a WPE - Welding Pressurized Enclosure also known as Habitats to do any kind of Hot Work? Is the job in a Class 1 Div 1 or 2? If the answer is YES, then by using our tools you could potentially have finished before you even get the Permit to go Hot. In many cases those Hot Work Permits are denied, jobs are postponed which can complicate Operations. Thinking of adding that job to the next TAR – turn around? Most our customers use our tools to do jobs before and during turn arounds. By doing such they reduce the complexity and duration of their turn arounds. By thinking proactively you can minimize the down time of your assets. By doing so you save money, in most cases lots of it.
We can provide upon request Certified Personnel to assist in analyzing the project and supervising its progress. We do not provide Technicians as we believe competing with Service Contractors is not in our best interest. We supply equipment, whether its rental or sale. That is our core and we stay within that scope. We are happy to join the Service Contractor in meetings with the Asset Owner or Operator in order to maximize technical expertise and provide the best service possible but we do not carry out the use of the tools.
